This proposed development involves the construction of a new, 567,000-SF, 57-story (two levels below grade plus mechanical penthouse) mixed-use building with 372,000-SF of residential space, 195,000-SF of hotel space, with parking and retail completing the scope. The proposed project site is on Fifth Avenue between 36th and 37th Streets. Several existing low and mid-rise buildings to the west and to the north will remain. The current exterior wall design consists of a window wall system. The current thinking is for a combination pile and caisson foundation system. In late 2006, the project received the necessary design approvals from the NYC Landmarks Preservation Committee, and the project is currently going through the New York City’s Urban Land Use Review Process (ULURP). Gwathmey Siegel & Associates is leading the leading team. |
